Thought For Today

If our lives reflect an image that is spiritually blurred, the truth of saving grace may not be clearly communicated.

I got this little story in an email this morning. I like it so I thought I'd share it here. The next time Anna and I are driving in the rain I think we will have a little talk about sin and God forgiving us.

One rainy afternoon I was driving along one of the main streets of town, taking those extra precautions necessary when the roads are wet and slick.

Suddenly, my son Matthew spoke up from his relaxed position in the front seat: "Mom, I'm thinking of something."

This announcement usually meant he had been pondering some fact for a while, and was now ready to expound all that his seven-year-old mind had discovered. I was eager to hear.

"What are you thinking?" I asked.

"The rain," he began, "is like sin, and the windshield wipers are like God wiping our sins away."

After the chill bumps raced up my arms, I was able to respond.

"That's really good, Matthew."

Then my curiosity broke in. How far would my little boy take this revelation?

So I asked, "Do you notice how the rain keeps on coming? What does that tell you?"

Matthew didn't hesitate one moment with his answer: "We keep on sinning, and God just keeps on forgiving us."

I will always remember this whenever I turn my wipers on.

The Dolphin Cruise

Today we took a little break from the beach. Three of us (Aunt Lane, Amber and Aubrey) sunburned yesterday and needed a break from the sun. We had so much fun today on the dolphin cruise. Anna loved it. Amber took the awesome pictures for me. She is so much better at taking pictures than I am. Our trip was cut a little short by rain but we got to see the dophins jumping in the wake of the boats so we didn't mind. After the dolphin cruise we went shopping at the Tanger Mall down here. We didn't buy much but had a good time. This evening we just hung out in the condo watching tv. We had a much needed relaxing day.
